Your Tuck-Once Grips secure and stabilize any slipcover, making it easy to keep furniture covers from shifting. They invisibly hold the fabric in place all around the cushions. Made of sturdy crystal clear compressible polyvinylchloride, the grips are specially designed to keep your slipcovers from shifting. As you insert them into the crevices of your furniture the ribs grip the fabric as the flexible wings press against the furniture and cushion sides. (SEE FIGURE A.) Easy to install, they can be used again and again, making cleaning or changing your slipcovers quick and simple. Best of all, the grips adapt to fit all styles of upholstered furniture, including curved club and barrel chairs.
1. Center your furniture cover over the sofa or chair with equal amounts of fabric on each side of the arms. Fabric should touch the floor in front.
2. Smooth the cover to follow the contour of the furniture. Using your hands gently tuck the fabric into the crevices between the arms and the seat cushions.
3. Place the shorter (18 inch) Tuck-Once Grip on the left cushion parallel to the arm. For arms less than 18 inches long, mark the arm length and cut the grip with a pair of heavy-duty scissors. With the red line pointing into the crevice, firmly push the grip into the crevice with your hands until it can go no deeper.
4. Pull the fabric tightly across to the right arm of the sofa. Repeat step three.
5. Smooth the fabric tightly over the seat towards the back of the sofa or chair. Tuck the fabric into the crevice between the back of the sofa and the seat cushions.
6. Use one large (24 inch) grip for each cushion. With the red line pointing into the crevice and parallel to the back of the sofa or chair, firmly push the grip into the crevice with your hands until it can't go any deeper. Repeat for each cushion.
7. Use your hands to tuck and smooth excess fabric into the crevice where the arms meet the back of the sofa or chair.
FOR THE MOST SECURE FIT, PUSH THE TUCK-ONCE GRIPS DEEPLY INTO THE FURNITURE CREVICES.
If you have purchased a Tuck-In Tool, you can use the tool instead of your hands to push the grips into the crevices and to smooth excess fabric. This unique tool has been ergonomically designed for those with arthritis or long nails. Use the "Keyhole" end of your tool to tuck and smooth excess fabric into the crevices where the arms meet the back of the sofa or chair. Use the "Duckbill" end to push fabric into the crevices between the cushion and the sofa and also to firmly push your grips into place.
Tuck-Once Grips work easily with rounded furniture. To curve a grip, simply use the cutting pattern found on the back of your package to cut notches in one wing of each grip you wish to curve. Please note that you cut one wing only!
1. Place the notching pattern under one wing of the grip. Align the grip flat against the pattern, following the arrows to correctly position the red line and the wing of the grip on the pattern.
2. With a ballpoint pen or magic marker, trace the triangular notches onto the wing of the grip. Using a pair of heavy-duty scissors, cut the triangles out of the wing of the grip.
3. To install, keep the notched side of the grip facing down and follow installation steps 1 through 6.
Bring fabric from the back of the sofa or chair to the seat. Gather the fabric in both hands and slowly pull up and outward. The grip will pop out easily. Repeat for each grip.
