The Pleating Clips are guides that allow you to pleat your slipcover or throw cover arms with professional results. Your pleats will be perfect and locked in place without any pins. If you are using a two piece slipcover, remember that although you have put on the Cinch Band, you haven't put the fabric skirt on yet. Note: for all directions, left and right is your left and right as you face the sofa.
If you are using a 2-piece slipcover.
1. Pull out the slipcover fabric from under the Cinch Band directly in front of both the left and right arms.
2. Attach each Pleating Clip by slipping the Cinch Band through the upper and lower band slots. The arrow on each clip should point up.
3. To pleat: Starting on the left outer edge of the sofa, take hold of about 6 to 8 inches of fabric. Tuck the fabric into the first finger of the Pleating Clip. Since the clip is hidden under the fabric, you have to tuck the fabric into the finger by feel. Repeat until all the left arm fabric is pleated into the four fingers of the clip.
4. Move to the right outer edge of the sofa, repeating the directions from step 3. Pleat from the outer edge working towards the center of the sofa.
5. To get very crisp pleats, hold the Pleating Clip from underneath the fabric and gently tug downward on the fabric inside each finger.
If you are using a loose throw cover.
1. Put the Cinch Belt in position under the cover.
2. Attach each Pleating Clip by slipping the Cinch Band through the upper and lower band slots. The arrow on each clip should be pointing up.
3. To pleat: Starting on the left outer edge of the sofa or chair, take hold of about 6 to 8 inches of fabric. Tuck the fabric into the first finger of the Pleating Clip. Since the clip is hidden under the fabric, you have to tuck the fabric into the finger by feel. Repeat until all the left arm fabric is pleated into the four fingers of the clip.
4. Move to the right outer edge of the sofa or chair, repeating the directions from step 3. Pleat from the outer edge working towards the center of the sofa.
5. To get very crisp pleats, hold the Pleating Clip from underneath the fabric and gently tug downward on the fabric inside each finger.
